In Prince Edward Island, between 2017 and 2018, there was a reduction of about 25,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions according to the latest information. This is roughly the equivalent of taking 5,400 passengers vehicles off the road for one year.
Government investments in green infrastructure will build a solar energy farm and storage facility in Summerside.
The project involves the construction of a new 21-megawatt solar farm and a battery storage facility. This renewable energy source will improve the energy efficiency of the City of Summerside. The project will allow the City to meet 62 per cent of its electricity needs through renewable energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 21,000 tonnes per year.
The Sustainable Transportation Action Plan will be implemented over five years. Over the coming months, government will be working with the opposition and third party to identify priority items for next year.
