Driving forward to reduce GHGs

Prince Edward Island is driving forward with efforts to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and calling on Islanders to do the same.

The first all-electric vehicle in the PEI government fleet of vehicles will allow public servants to leave a lighter footprint as they go about their work and also raises awareness of what Islanders can do to take their own actions on climate change.

Buy Local

Buying local goods and services keeps money in our community, supports local farmers and reduces environmental impact of transportation and excess packaging of importing goods from great distances.

Watch 'PEI: Life on a Shrinking Island'

PEI: Life on a Shrinking Island - Prince Edward Island is slowly disappearing into the ocean, in large part due to climate-change-related sea level rise and powerful storm surges which are increasing erosion of the island’s soft sandstone base. Tides have become noticeably different and have destroyed infrastructure including lighthouses, bridges, wharfs, streets, boardwalks, water wells, and sewer lines.
